RE-NUT® Wrapped: 2025 in Review

RE-NUT AG |

At RE-NUT®, 2025 was a great year marked by major milestones in sustainable food technology and in-shell innovation. As a startup focused on nut-based ingredients (such as almond flour and almond milk) processed with their shells, we achieved new heights in product readiness, scaling up, funding, and industry visibility. Below we recap the highlights – from regulatory green lights to engineering our first Blueprint Line, securing capital, and engaging over half a million people – and hint at how we’re cracking open 2026.

Regulatory Milestones: Safe and Market‑Ready

Safety first: This year, comprehensive toxicology studies on our in-shell almond products came back clean, with no adverse effects observed.  This gave us the scientific green light that our almond flour (rich in shell fiber) and almond milk are safe for consumption, bringing us a key step closer to market entry. Armed with these results, we obtained Self-GRAS in the USA (Generally Recognized as Safe) for both our clean-label almond milk and high-fiber almond flour, meaning they can be commercialized nationally.

Clearing regulatory paths: In parallel, we advanced our regulatory approvals across the Atlantic. We prepared our Novel Food dossier in the EU and entered the initial submission and suitability check phases for approval. In practice, this means our novel in-shell almond ingredients are progressing through the EU’s safety evaluation process. Together, these U.S. and EU regulatory strides show that RE-NUT’s nut-based ingredients are market-ready – positioning us to launch in USA and soon in the EU.

Industrial Scale-Up: Blueprint Line Engineering Begins

Building the future of nut processing: 2025 saw the kickoff of engineering for our first industrial in-shell processing facility, aptly nicknamed the RE-NUT Blueprint Line. Located in North America, Michigan (near the heart of the almond supply), this will be the world’s first extraction line capable of processing almonds with their shells to produce both almond milk and almond flour – with zero waste by “in-cycling” all the shell fiber. In other words, every part of the nut becomes a food product, exemplifying true sustainable food technology in action.

Partners and progress: We’ve teamed up with GEA, a global leader in food processing tech, to design and build the Blueprint Line. Engineering studies began in 2025, mapping out everything from in-shell roasting and wet extraction to separation and product standardization. Our co-manufacturing partner in Michigan (who just secured a facility for this line) is upgrading the site to U.S. food-grade standards. This first-of-its-kind line is slated to go live by Q1 2027, and it will serve as a model for scaling up with larger partners and even expanding to other nuts. For the plant-based food industry, the Blueprint Line represents a leap forward in in-shell innovation, showing how we can double ingredient yield and eliminate waste while meeting industrial scale and compliance. Strengthening our Capital Base

Innovation takes investment, and in 2025 RE-NUT bolstered its financial foundation with a successful capital increase. We completed a new funding round (a Seed extension) with strong support from existing shareholders. This infusion of capital not only validates confidence in our mission but also ensures we have the resources to scale our technology and expand market reach. In a year where many plant-based ventures tightened belts, RE-NUT®’s fundraise stands out, giving us added runway to execute our ambitious plans in the coming years.

In the Spotlight: Media Coverage Highlights

Our in-shell nut innovation caught global attention in 2025. RE-NUT was featured in major media outlets – including National Geographic and Fi Global Insights – highlighting the growing interest in incycled, plant-based ingredients and zero-waste food processes. For instance, Fi Global Insights profiled our patented process that unlocks a nut’s full potential by processing it with the shell, noting how we make fiber accessible for human nutrition for the first time in this category. In total, over 30 industry publications and news outlets ran stories on RE-NUT® this year, underscoring our emerging role as an innovator in sustainable food technology.

Engaging the Food Industry Community

Beyond the press, RE-NUT®’s own content and outreach struck a chord in 2025. Our blogs and social posts – on topics from almond milk trends to nut-based hybrid foods – reached and resonated with a wide audience of food professionals. In fact, over 500,000 people engaged with RE-NUT® content this year. From thought leadership articles on food reformulation to behind-the-scenes looks at our tech, we’ve been fostering conversations about clean label trends and sustainability in the B2B food space. This robust engagement shows that the industry is not only watching but actively interacting with the ideas we champion – whether it’s formulating cleaner labels or exploring new uses for nut-based ingredients. It’s encouraging to see a growing community interested in what a “whole-nut, whole-ingredient” approach can do for modern food products.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Clean Labels, Hybrids & More

We’re not slowing down. Heading into 2026, RE-NUT is zeroed in on three big themes for the future of food innovation:

  • Clean Label Reformulation: Helping brands simplify and reformulate foods with shorter, cleaner ingredient lists. Our in-shell derived ingredients can replace multiple additives with one natural, fiber-rich plant-based ingredient, aligning with clean label trends without sacrificing functionality or taste.

  • Launching the Blueprint Line: Engineering and preparing the Blueprint Line to hit the USA market in 2027.

  • In-Shell Innovation for Sustainability: Continuing to push the envelope of in-shell processing as a sustainability game-changer. In 2025 we proved the model with almonds; in 2026, we’ll refine it and expand its applications. This means advancing in-shell methods for other nuts (think hazelnuts, peanuts) and integrating our whole-ingredient systems into supply chains. By using every part of the raw material, we help food manufacturers shrink waste streams and carbon footprints – a win for business efficiency and the planet.

In summary, 2025 has been a breakthrough year for RE-NUT from achieving key regulatory and commercial milestones to amplifying our voice in the industry. We’ve set the stage for an even more impactful 2026, where sustainable food technology and creative collaboration will drive us to new heights. Thank you for being part of this journey! Here’s to a new year of innovation (and perhaps some new nut-based ingredients on your menu)!

Happy Holidays and see you in 2026,
